Voting Question: Bankruptcy, foreclosure, chapter 13, what will happen?
Here is the situation, you tell me what will happen. Myself, wife and 1 child have had some ridiculously bad luck compounded by poor decisions over the past 4-5 years. She is currently off work on disability, and bankruptcy and foreclosure is inevitable. We each bought a house before we were married and can’t sell either one without taking a HUGE loss. We owe about $240,000 total on the houses and would be lucky to sell them for $200,000 at the moment with the crappy market in our areas. We also have about $70,000 in credit card debt that has skyrocketed over the past year with her not earning as much and the ridiculous interest rates from ONE missed damn payment. My wife also has about $20,000 in student loans.
We currenly make about $100,000 combined per year, though her disability will run out and I make about $60,000-$65,000 myself. She also pays about 500-600 per month on medicine and doctors visits (that is with insurance).
So, yeah, bankruptcy is going ot happen sooner or later. IDEALLY we do not want either house and want to rent something cheaper (like in the 800 a month range).
So, anyone with knowledge or experience, what do you think will happen when we file? How much do you think we would have to pay a trustee every month? What will happen with the defeciency on the houses? Thanks
Resolved Question: Should Government FORCE you to wear a seat-belt or is there “another” reason?$$$$$?
1st:
I WEAR a seat-belt at ALL times and your an idiot if you don’t wear one…it’s cheap insurance and may save your life.
but that’s NOT the point!!!
We allow our freedoms to be taken without any objections all in the name of safety.
Should CHILDREN be required to wear one: YES, no question there!
Should adults be required to wear one: No! We should have the RIGHT to be stupid and have the FREEDOM to NOT to!
What about lives to be saved: It’s a statistical fact that seat belts have NOT saved the 1000’s of lives they claim….really look it up. In my state highway deaths have either gone up or stayed the same since seat belt laws were enacted 8 years ago.
Then WHAT has Changed with Seat Belt Laws:
Ahhhhhh…they REAL reason for Seat Belt laws: Our State alone took in OVER 32.4 MILLION in NEW fines: Cleveland Plain Dealer Sept 2007, Metro section pg 15
Do we get CHEAPER INSURANCE RATES: NOPE, Insurance rates have continually gone up about 2.3% and there has been no change since laws were enacted.
Then WHY have Seat Belt Laws:
They are the typical “Government please come into my life and protect me from myself LAWS”. They are intellectually insulting and are so obvious why $$$$$$ in their pockets.
Well, maybe cause the Governments “CARES” about us:
If you believe Federal, State & Local governments actually “CARE” about us……….you must be 10 years old! Try not paying your property tax for a Month or two and you’ll find out exactly how much they “CARE” about you…they WILL throw you on the street and take in their mind “THEIR” house.
When will we wake up…..they are taking every right we have…RIGHTS that we are supposed to give THEM…not the other way around
Resolved Question: Trying to take somebody off my auto policy?
A few months ago i added my mom and sister onto my auto policy with Progressive (we all live together and we all have our own vehicles). I was quoted a certain price for each person to pay (my mom had to pay a little over $200). At the time, she was switching over her house insurance too. Well, she just got a letter saying that they aren’t going to cover the house, so she decided to go back to Allstate (who she was with before). Because my sister’s is a lot cheaper (almost half) with Progressive, she is staying on my policy. Allstate told my mom that she could get all her money back if she tells them that she didn’t have a lapse in coverage with them while she was with Progressive and they would show documentation to prove it.
When I called Progressive, he didn’t argue with me about giving all her money back. He said that was fine as long as Allstate faxed over proof of insurance for her during that time. My problem is, they are saying that she is only entitled to $50! They said that it is impossible to do individual quotes when more than one person is on a policy and she would only be getting $50 of the over $200 they told her she had to pay in. They said the rest is going to cover the other two policies (mine and my sister’s). Mine was already paid in full because they were actually coming on a month into my policy. So I guess they are trying to tell me that they under quoted my sister about $200 and made my mom pay it!
My mom called Allstate, and they said it was a bunch of bull, that they have to give individual quotes (which they originally did, they just aren’t sticking to)!
What should I do? I’m on hold right now, but I’ve already argued with two people and I’m getting nothing done.
Ok, so now they are trying to say that having three cars is a $200 discount over having two cars. So, when you go from two to three cars, they knock $200 off the policy! Anybody heard of that before?? does that sound right?
