Resolved Question: i’m getting my first apartment in Raleigh NC and…?
i was wondering how much i should expect to pay monthly for electric. my boyfriend and i will have at most 2 bdrms. we dont (cant) cook. 1 tv. i vacuum iron and blowdry alot, take long hot showers.
also, do yous have any opinions on a decent cable service (not interested in sports/cartoons) or internet service, or bettr yet a combo. im trying to figure out my budget and what we can afford.
also again, a few complexes require renters insurance? why? shouldt that be my decision? what exactly does it cover? will it be a monthly bill or a one time deal? any suggestions on a company to get it from?
Open Question: looking for suggestions with my 19 year old daughter?
I have a daughter that believes she doesn’t need to respect me anymore. I have been through so much with this girl I want to just shake her and wake her up. This all started about 1 1/2 years ago. She decided that she didnt need to follow any rules. She came and went as she pleased. She did start hanging out with the wrong crowd and got into trouble, her father and I are divorced but we work together for our kids. We helped her out and proved her innocence. Then she came home late spring begging me for help, so I took her to my husbands and my summer home and kept her away from all the bad influences. She did wonderful, got her act together decided she was going to move to another state 300 miles away and start fresh, got a great job, very nice apartment. She did really good until she started feeling lonely and wanted to come home. All understandable she was 18. so just 2 weekends ago her father and I moved her back to this area, she found an apartment and moved in. 2 days later I hadnt heard a peep out of her so I called to see how it was all going. no answer…at about 11 pm my husband (her stepfather) drove me 40 minutes to see if she was OK, I was a nutcase. She was fine just chose not to answer my calls ALL day. She was so angry with me and I just walked away saying that i would never bother her again. And that is basically true. I wrote her one email apologizing for doing that but explaining that I was worried. Also in that letter I told her I would not be giving, loaning, or anything like that. I would pay 6 months of her car insurance and then it was up to her. I also told her that the cell phone would be left on only for my convenience as her grandparents are ill and her stepfather has cancer and now today I was diagnosed with lymphoma. I told her it was her choice if she answered or called us back. I have yet to hear a word. I havent told her about my diagnosis, nor do I plan to because I do not want her coming back for just that reason.
this past tuesday she called her grandmother and asked if she could come over with a cake for her grandfathers birthday, she never showed up!! She has “blown off” her very best friend several times.
Im really trying this tough love thing, but any further advice I would GREATLY appreciate! Oh and btw, she doesnt have a job!! And no drugs are involved. We have done drug tests up until she left 2 weeks agao and this had started before now…..

I have no idea how she is planning to pay her bills. Her biological dad usually hands her money. I have taken her to counseling and that only works IF the person recieving it wants the help and is willing to listen.
