Surviving the Meltdown: For my kinfolk and friends
I have home owner’s insurance. Why? To protect our most valuable physical asset from fire, hurricane, tornado, theft, earthquake, etc. Thus, if our cave is suddenly destroyed the insurance will provide another cave. … read more…
What homeowners and auto insurance do you recommend? | NFYG.COM
What homeowners and auto insurance do you recommend? By NFYG.COM. I am shopping for homeowner’s and Auto insurance. Progressive is the cheapest, and I like the fact that they cover pets that are riding in your car too. I am looking at them as well as Ameriprise, and Amica. Allstate and Nationwide seemed high, State Farm and Gieco will not give me Earthquake coverage which is a must. Thank you. Foamy. Share/Save/Bookmark. Categories : Insurance … read more…

Resolved Question: Why is home insurance limited to each and every different type of disaster?
The home is either livable or NOT livable…it matters NOT what disaster ruined the home..
Why then is it that you have to pay extra for each different type of circumstance? An accident is an accident…. a disaster is a disaster… the home can only be burned, flooded, distroyed by earthquake / tornado / hurricaine ONCE.. why pay for all the different ways insurance-wise?
How covered is covered? And WHY !!!! Why?? Is it if you Never have any type of claim you aren’t refunded some of that money you spend year after year after year?
Again, once you’ve paid in insurance the amount of the home value.. what difference does it make if you replaced the home ‘money-wise’ already in insurance premiums? Why not spend those premiums on a second home instead?
Just shooting in the dark here of the many complaints I have heard ranted from my elders recently.. their solutions were hysterical.. What’s the best home insurance? I’d love to hear more solutions.
Resolved Question: Have you considered a world without insurance?
50 years ago most people didn’t have insurance. Imagine how much money goes to insurance. You pay for health, dental, life, mortgage, property, car, flood and whatever else. Then you might buy extended warranty insurance on your, fridge, washer, drier, home, car, tires,…
How about just saving the money and becoming self insured. How many thousands of dollars would you have in 10 years just from not buying any insurance?
Then there are the indirect costs such as the money your employer doesn’t pay you because he contributes to your insurances (soon to be taxed and imputed income). And the costs of products you buy increased because all the employers that handle you goods pay their employees for insurance.
Then some common sense. If you live in a flood prone area, don’t expect your house replaced, build above the flood level. In earthquake or huricane areas, build a better house. I have heard many people say “it is OK, I have insurance” It is your choice to live there.
Those wishing for no government. that is close to a good idea. but anarchy is impractical. Let’s go back to the republic.
El Tecolote is demonstrating one of the problems. The people doing these jobs are overhead…they add no value to a product, but increase the cost. People were doing other jobs before insurance.
The dude, could the cost of cancer treatment be lower if insurance costs were removed? Would you have more money if it wasn’t spent on insurance?
Anabel, I had a job offer in New Orleans before Katrina. I turned it down because I had seen the documentary on what would happen there if a major hurricane hit. They claimed New Orleans would flood to 15 feet…
Resolved Question: How would you replace your things if your house/apt burned down?
After a question a few weeks ago about what to donate to a little boy in her child’s class who’s home burned down…I started thinking. “What if my apartment burned down? How would I replace everything? From toothbrushes to wardrobes to beds…that would be so expensive.
Does anyone have renters/homeowners insurance? How much does it cover? How much do you pay?
Anyone get additional insurance? Like in CA, earthquakes are considered separate from the standard policy and have their own different policies and payments
Your thoughts?
I just wrote the check for my homeowner’s insurance. Apparently I dripped a bit of spaghetti sauce on the envelope at some point between now and when I got it in May. The result is that the envelope looks just a wee bit bloody. Hello, new federal list….
