some parts of california are earthquake prone. in one area 30% of all homeowners are insured. 4 homeowners are to be selected at random; let X denote the number among those 4 who have insurance.
a.find the probability distribution of X. (hint: let S denote a homeowner who has insurance and F one who doesnt. then 1 possible outcome is SFSS with a prob. (.3)(.7)(.3)(.3) and associated X value 3) (there are 15 other outcomes but i can find these)
b. what is the most likely value of X? ( i think you just get this from part a so not a big deal)
