Open Question: I Had a recent car accident which I believe I was not at fault, need some help…..?
I was recently driving home on the highway and there was something in the middle of my lane, looked like a ladder or something of that nature. I didnt have time to swerve into the other lane because it would of been unsafe and was boxed in. I hit the object and spun out of control causing me to do a 360 in the middle of the highway. The only damage I had was to the front bumper from the original impact, no other cars hit me and i avoided the median. I’m I at fault wit my insurance company since I was the only car involved? can I sue the highway department for not keeping the lanes cleared? the damage is approx. 1300 and my deductible is 1000, should i claim it? I filed a police report, are they going to release that to my insurance if i dont claim the accident?

Voting Question: Car insurance on leased vehicle.?
A friend of mine was out with her friend Friday night around 2:30 am. They were on their way home. She pulled over to the shoulder of the highway with her 4-ways on to call the police when she saw a car on fire and wanted to see if they were okay. While trying to do a good deed, she was then rear ended by what she believes was an intoxicated driver because they hit and ran. Now her 2007 Chevy Cobalt LT Coupe that she was leasing is now totaled and the insurance company isn’t paying her a dime. She was almost at the end of her lease. She and her friend suffered from whip lash and are extremely sore. They’ve closed her case and aren’t trying to pursue her hit and run driver. She did give a description of the vehicle that hit her but isn’t the insurance company suppose to give her what she’s already paid on her vehicle instead of making her pay her deductible and closing her case? Now she’s out of a car and it clearly wasn’t her fault.
