Open Question: Would this housing plan be better?
The government is about to spend a fortune on bailing out banks and homeborrowers facing foreclosure. Why not take all of these 30 year mortgages, and change them over into 50 year mortgages with a comparative mortgage rate and a mortgage insurance attachment. The monthly payment would drop to an affordable range and the banks are still guaranteed to get the agreed upon price for the home. If a person still cannot afford a 50 year monthly rate than they should not be there anyway and they can be foreclosed on. In twenty years the price will be back up where it was and the owners can sell and break even. Much better than foreclosing or government bailouts right?
Currently, these people are never going to own their homes, they are getting foreclosed on. When conditions get better, they can always refinance to shorter term or pay more to pay down their principal. We are talking about people who are losing their homes, trying to get them a more manageable monthly payment. People choose 30 year mortgages over 15 year mortgages all the time. How is this different?
Open Question: need some advise on a financial nightmare?
I was laid off 8 months ago from my nice salary job. unemployment was very little to get by we also blew our savings in this process. We also had to pay COBRA 1200 a month! unfortunately we had to use credit cards and now have 18k on them. Interest rates all like 22% with min payments750 a month. We looked at downsizing our home but we owe more then its worth. I just took a job with a half the salary i had a year ago but it has heath insurance. I talked to a banker about a loan for the 16k in cc debt but they bacially laughed. this payment/interest is killing me any suggestions? Bankruptcy is not an option as i have a moral obligation to pay this off. We live a basic life we don’t even have cable or eat out ect. we are down to bare bones.
Resolved Question: Is my boss scamming me?
I’m a graphic designer and got a job with a place that does photography and design work. The guy was pretty reluctant about paying me even my minimum asking hourly rate..($13 per hour which is pretty low for someone with a BFA) he said he’d get me on his health insurance but hasn’t yet. I’ve been there for over a month now. He ALSO isn’t paying ANY of my taxes because he considers me a free lancer for the company…which is fine…except he also has me being his assistant now who calls people and sets up appointments along with designing…
I told him before that maybe I could just work from home and he can pay me per job (he keeps whining about my hourly pay amount). He liked the idea of paying me per job but not working from home because he needs an assistant. He said he’d only consider me an employee and pay my taxes if I was willing to take a GIANT pay cut because then he’s paying for that….which doesn’t seem fair..
I feel like I’m being used.. do you think I am or is this just how it always starts out when you graduate from college. I live in Connecticut too which is one of the most expensive states to live in to give you an idea of how much the pay range should be…
what topic would it be under do you think in the labor laws thing? I’m going to email them asking them about it now too and see how they feel. Thanks everyone!
